“Jessica is absolutely amazing. She was my primary provider with my second son. I was blessed to have her as my midwife but she felt more like a long lost friend. She let me have a voice in my pregnancy and always supported any decision. She gave me the facts, the pros, the cons and would allow me to make my choice. During my labor she let me be free and wander around my house and she would check on me periodically. She knew what type of birth I wanted and she honored it. She helped manifest it. She was there when I was too tired and needed to nap she climbed in my bed and spoon-fed me. Lol. I loved her calmness in the chaos of my mind. I could go on forever about how this amazing woman changed my life and helped me achieve something I’ve wanted for my first but wasn’t able to do. And I will forever be thankful. But don’t take my word for it-you have to just experience the awakening yourself.”

FEATURED MIDWIFE SERVICES
The support and information you’ve been looking for.
As a home birth midwife, I am passionate about guiding and supporting you through an informed, empowering, and truly individualized pregnancy, birth, and postpartum journey. Originally from Alaska and now happily settled in Murrell’s Inlet, I bring over a decade of professional midwifery experience to families in Myrtle Beach, Conway, North Myrtle Beach, and throughout Horry County-as well as communities up and down the Carolina coast and inland within a two-hour radius. If you’re envisioning a birth that honors your body, your baby, and your choices, I would love to hear your story. My goal is to help you create a safe, joyful, and transformative birth experience-one where you feel respected, heard, and supported every step of the way. Below, you’ll find the full range of services I offer to help you thrive throughout your pregnancy, birth, and beyond.
PRENATAL
Prenatal care can start as soon as you know you are pregnant. Visits are scheduled with plenty of time, so you can ask questions and get to know me and my team. We'll provide ongoing education in health and nutrition and what to expect in the coming weeks. We will see you once a month until 28 weeks, every two weeks from 28-36 weeks, and weekly until you deliver starting at 37 weeks. Prenatal care involves the family and we welcome your kids to join in on the learning and measuring as you grow. Virtual, in-home, and office visits available.
HOMEBIRTH
Your baby's birth is special to us! We partner with you to ensure a safe, minimal-intervention natural birth from the comfort of your home. Eat, drink, rest and birth in any position. We'll monitor your vital signs and listen to your baby using a handheld Doppler device so you can labor in the best way for you. After delivery, we ensure you will have immediate skin-to-skin contact with your newborn, optimal cord clamping, and early breastfeeding.Within the first 36 hours after your baby’s birth, we return to your home for an extended, nurturing visit. During this time, you can stay cozy in bed with your newborn while we provide your choice of newborn exams, complete birth certificate paperwork, ensure you are healing well and not experiencing excessive bleeding, and offer hands-on support for your early postpartum recovery. This unhurried appointment is designed to answer your questions, address any concerns, and help you settle in with confidence and comfort.
POSTPARTUM
Postpartum visits are normally scheduled on day 1, day 3, between 1-2 weeks, and again between 3-4 weeks. There will be lots of conversations on how the transition is feeling for you. During the postpartum period, you will receive routine postpartum assessments to help monitor your health and the (normal) physical changes that occur, lactation guidance and assistance with breastfeeding, and well-baby care to support and assess the growth and health of your baby.

The average birth experience leaves a lot to be desired…
✗ Impersonal, rushed appointments where you feel like just another number
✗ Lack of education surrounding your health and the development of your baby
✗ A disregard for your birth plan and desire to avoid intervention
✗ Feeling disrespected or invalidated for seeking pain management alternatives
✗ Limiting food, water, and movement during labor and delivery
WITH ADVANCED MIDWIFERY AND HOME BIRTH, IT DOESN’T HAVE TO BE THIS WAY!
EMPOWERED

RESPECTED
“A peaceful birthing reverberates out to the room and all the people present. It is a memory that is permanently implanted into your baby’s cells. This Program of Peace is what your child will operate from its whole life.”

Home birth with a midwife is a safe and empowering option for healthy, low-risk pregnancies. If you value personalized care, informed choice, and a supportive environment, you may be a great candidate. South Carolina regulations set clear guidelines for who qualifies for midwifery care. Read the official SC midwifery regulations here. We’ll review your health history together to ensure home birth is the safest option for you and your baby.
-
I am still your midwife and the team and myself are still supporting you! Your safety is our top priority. If a medical condition arises during pregnancy that makes home birth unsafe, we’ll help you transition smoothly to physician or hospital-based care, provide your records, and support you emotionally through the change. We will still see you regularly in the prenatal period to help you plan for the change and adjust with ease. In labor, myself or someone from my team will attend you in labor in a doula support capacity, and in postpartum, we will come to you once you are home from the hospital to continue with in-home care all the first week postpartum. You are getting the midwifery care you paid for and deserve even if we need to pull in another specialist to help you and your baby deliver best.
-
Absolutely! We welcome your whole family at prenatal visits. Children are invited to be part of the experience, and we’re happy to answer their questions and help them feel included. Home visits are prioritized to our postpartum clients and prenatal clients with littles at home, so please let me know if you need prenatal care in your home to make nap time and your comfort work.
-
We do not administer newborn vaccines. We can help you access them through your pediatrician or hospital if you choose.
-
Yes! Delayed cord clamping is our standard practice unless there’s a medical reason not to. We believe in giving your baby the best possible start.
-
To ensure personalized attention and availability, I limit my practice to a small number of clients each month. This allows me and my team to provide truly individualized care and be present for your birth, day or night.
-
It’s rare, but if two families need us at the same time, we have trusted backup midwives and assistants available. I work closely with Audrey Treppicione LM, CPM of Oceanside Midwives as well as other local LMs, student midwives, doulas, and birth assistants to ensure that my clients are always supported no matter where I am until I can get to you.
-
Yes, I bring all the necessary medical supplies and equipment to ensure your home birth is as safe as possible. This includes everything needed for routine care and potential emergencies: a fetal doppler, stethoscope, blood pressure cuff, sterile instruments, suturing supplies, IV fluids, oxygen, emergency medications (such as Pitocin), newborn resuscitation equipment, and supplies for both mother and baby. I am prepared to handle common situations and rare emergencies and engage transport and transfer as needed to support best outcomes for mom and baby.
-
Planned home birth with a qualified midwife is a safe option for healthy, low-risk pregnancies. Large studies show that planned home births for low-risk pregnancies have outcomes comparable to those at accredited birth centers, with similar rates of safety for both mothers and babies. As a licensed midwife, I follow evidence-based guidelines and South Carolina regulations, closely monitor you and your baby, and am trained to recognize complications early and arrange hospital transfer if needed. Your safety is always my top priority.

A midwife is different from a doula or a birthkeeper in important ways:
Midwives are trained medical professionals who provide comprehensive care throughout pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. We are licensed to monitor your health, perform clinical assessments, manage normal deliveries, administer medications, and respond to emergencies.
Doulas and birthkeepers are non-medical support people. They offer emotional, physical, and informational support during pregnancy and birth, but do not provide medical care, make clinical assessments, or manage complications. Midwives and doulas often work together to provide a supportive, holistic birth experience.
